The Mayor cutting last year’s cake

At the Old Perth Road Markets on Sunday, August 29, the Mayor of the Town of Bassendean will be cutting a cake large enough for all to share.  There will be free bouncy castle and balloons for the kids as well as Pony Rides.

Rose Manuli, who thrilled us with her singing in June, and Johnny Clash will be providing the musical entertainment.

It will be wonderful day so come along and join in the fun.

In addition to all the crafty stalls, the July Old Perth Road Markets celebrate extension of the Perth bike network through to Bassendean Railway Station and introduce ‘The Great Bike Hike’. (more…)

Funky Fungi

Julie Green was inspired to start Funky Fungi in 2005 and the business has just ‘mushroomed’ ever since. (Sorry!)

But in the February 2011 Kelmscott bush fire Julie lost here work shed.  They had a very close shave! But that didn’t stop her and she’s started re-creating from newly built premises on their property.  A regular at many of Perth’s markets almost every weekend, Julie says she ‘loves the enjoyable family atmosphere’ and the Old Perth Road Markets are her favorite!  Funky Fungi are sold individually or you can brighten up your winter garden with a mix and match set of five for just $35 !

We will be taking registrations for the Pooches Parade on Sunday from 8am to 10am.  The parade will start at 10:30.  The first 30 people to register will receive a voucher that will entitle your pet to a $50 vaccination (valued at $95) plus a 7 point Health Check to ensure a happy & healthy pet.  These gift vouchers have been donated by PetVet Animal Hospital, 3/5 Clayton Street, Midland.

At the March market, in association with the Dogs’ Day Out, The Eden Hill Dog Fellowship will be demonstrating agility dog training.

Baba-Dee ProductionsFiona Carson of Baba-dee Productionswas one of our inaugural stallholders in August 2010 and attended many markets since then.  Her beautiful jewelry range includes necklaces, bracelets, earrings, brooches and rings all featuring the stunning kanzashi flower design.  Each piece is personally handmade by  Fiona and crafted by folding small squares of silk into petals and then sewing and gluing them together teamed with vintage glass buttons.  The bright and colourful designs make a gorgeous accessory to match any outfit or occasion.
